Organicycle is West Michigan’s first and largest curbside composting company, serving residents, businesses, and composting on behalf of the area’s largest waste management companies.

The business was founded in 2011 by Bridget Tietema, a special education teacher in Rockford, who strived to offer a solution to her student’s questioning “why do we throw away so much food”. Alongside her husband Dan, who has 20+ years of experience in Waste Management, they identified the community’s needs, and began purchasing their first pieces of equipment. A decade later Organicycle has established itself as a leader in organic waste recycling, setting the standard for best practices and public education within the industry.

In an effort to continue diverting waste from landfills, Organicycle established its own compost facility just outside of Grand Rapids, creating nutrient rich soil for use by local farmers and our community.  Providing the public with a convenient alternative to landfills, allowing for the easy collection, separation, and diversion for all food-waste. Specializing in this core competency has allowed Organicycle to grow year-over-year.

Serving the public throughout Kent, Ottawa, Muskegon and Kalamazoo County, Organicycle has been recognized by many throughout the state as a leader in the sustainability industry.
