SoulArt Gallery, located in the lobby of the Varnum Building at Bridgewater Place in Grand Rapids, is a contemporary fine art space showcasing works by established artists, including renowned glass artist Mark Lewanski from Portland, Michigan, and celebrated painter William Attaway from Barbados.

Following the gallery's complete transformation in 2024, it hosted a soft opening with a special exhibition for the Michigan Residential Architects, marking its renewed presence as a destination for artistic and architectural inspiration.

The gallery now stands as a sleek, reflective environment that embodies the curvilinear and uplifting aesthetic of its founder and lead artist, stainless steel sculptor Ryan T. Schmidt. Known for his mirror-polished surfaces and flowing, upward forms, Ryan brings over two decades of experience to the space. Since 2002, he has specialized in stainless steel sculpture, often integrating his work with landscape design and water features to create immersive, contemplative environments.

A participating ArtPrize artist since 2015, Ryan’s work has been consistently recognized for its elegance, scale, and emotional impact. His vision shapes every element of SoulArt Gallery—from its curated exhibitions to its architectural atmosphere. In addition to ongoing exhibitions, SoulArt Gallery also hosts curated Art Tours and exclusive private events, incorporating fine food, live music, and intimate access to the art and artists.
