I came to Madcap this morning and it looked like it was under construction. Anyone know when it will open back up?

      A:

Hi Grace, yes, we are renovating our kitchen and bathrooms which were in need of much love. The exact day/time of re-open is TBD based on how construction goes but we plan to be back open before the weekend. However, we are doing a full service… more

I have nothing but good things to say about Madcap, and I love raving to my Michigan friends on how Madcap came to fruition in Grand Rapids.

The baristas here are efficient but always create high-quality work. You can tell that they care about each cup of coffee they make. Their craft is also very impressive, as many of the baristas here are involved in various competitions around the country.

My favorites on the menu are just a classic latte, an iced vanilla latte, and the matcha, too! Their seasonal drinks are always fun to try out as well, I always look forward to their spin on the classic "Pumpkin Spice Latte" in the Fall.

First of all the location is nice. Like the space, have enough seating to work or hang out with friends. Me and the boyfriend go to the location on Monroe downtown.
The 2 young baristas were friendly and nice. I had the cappuccino and my boyfriend had the mocha.
Both drinks came with latte art which we both love.
The place wasn't too crowded, and lucky for us we found a seat.
The next time we come back to GR we have to try the one on Fulton.

This is such a cute coffee shop. I love the iced chai, it was yummy. I added vanilla to make it sweet and it was perfect. Everyone was so sweet and happy. I'm visiting from California and it was just such a great atmosphere overall. I'm hoping to stop by before I leave back home. Definitely worth going.

Loved the pastries and coffee! I enjoyed using the app to order. The building was close to skating and museum

This place was an absolute delight. I had brunch at little bird which is right across the street so I was able to pop over and enjoy a cup of tea after.

The place itself it's super cute from the inside out. The employees were very friends, the service was great. And the menu is legit. On top of their coffee selection they offered a lovely tea list. I've never had cascara tea before but if you stop in to this place I would highly recommend it. Plus they offer both inside and outside seating so you can enjoy hanging out here regardless of the weather.

Great espresso. Limited offerings and slower-service.

Love the look of this place and the espresso tasted super fresh.

I stuck with a decaf pour over for my drink. It was incredibly clean and the tasting notes were on point! Orange and raisin were the primary flavors I got out of it with a bit a molasses at the end. Tasted very round as well. Overall this was a delicious cup of coffee and has me craving to come back again. Staff were very helpful with the selection and the interior was absolutely gorgeous! Great place for a date or getting some work done.

Made a pitstop into Mad Cap Coffee after hearing rave reviews. The shop is placed on a street corner for easy downtown access. Inside is a very open space to sit down and relax, enjoy a drink by the windows, or watch the baristas at work before carrying out.

All drinks landed in the $4-$6 range which was a pleasant surprise; with this, most offerings only came in one size though. The menu offered classic coffee and tea options as well as a small food and seasonal section. It surprised me to find there wasn't as large of an offering of flavors unless that is understood to be off menu requests. My tea, house of jupiter, was delicious as well as my friend's nettie moore coffee.

Tip: Service was extremely quick so if you see a long line, don't let that deter you from going!

Great ambiance, Great Employees, Great Coffee

      What we ordered:
      -1 coffee flight
      -1 cappuccino

The cappuccino was very good but it wasn't light and airy like a normal cappuccino. This was more of a latte but still very good for a "latte" the design on top was good

The coffee flight was good, I chose winter haven coffee which was very light and tasty, the house espresso is very strong and the espresso with milk was great! Cost 7.50

The coffee house has clean bathrooms and a very clean environment.

      We will return

I've been excited to visit Madcaps flagship since first finding out I had to come to Grand Rapids. To be honest I've had to stop drinking espresso since the pandemic. It seems that when folks came back to work, they cared a little less about the craft and science behind pulling a delicious shot. Not the case here. Perfectly balanced, just the right temperature, the glass allowed for a nose full of rich smells and they present with soda water (a lost art some places).

The baristas were a great balance of hip while maintaining a Midwest niceness.

Bonus points for pulling a great shot at noon after the rain let up. Lots of folks will dial in the machine in the morning and leave it be. Pure professionals. 110/100 would recommend.

The holy trinity. Nitro cold brew, espresso, soda water. Amen.
